If you are facing a red light camera ticket case, the best thing you can use for your defense is to challenge the clarity of the image captured. You better hope that the photo taken is blurry, especially that your car was moving at the time when the image was taken.

The police department will send you the ticket along with the picture taken. Inspect the photo and see if it is blurry and if it can be denied that it was indeed your car. If the judge can’t determine beyond reasonable doubt that it was clearly you who in the photo taken, then you won’t be guilty. Observe the photo, are you recognizable in it. Just remember to be truthful. Don’t fabricate lies and say that it was not you in the photo if you know well that you did jumped the red light.

Another way to avoid the ticket is when there is no representative from the camera company that shows up in court to prove the authenticity of the photo. You can request the judge not to include the photo as grounds for your ticket.

If that happens, there will be no photos that can be used as evidence against you. This way, you can’t be convicted and the judge will not find you guilty.

If it was really you that run through the red light, it is best to just be honest about it. If you have the right reasons why you beat the red light, then the judge just might let go off your ticket.

You can also contend that you made a legal right hand turn during the red light. Check the applicable traffic laws in your state to find out if you can use this to your advantage. You can go take a picture of the location to prove that you made a legal right hand turn.

To make sure you win the red light camera ticket, it is best that you consult a lawyer, or hire one to represent you in court.
